Pre-Departure and Preparations

I, along with my fellow Brazilian team, depart for Brazil this Saturday! After 3 flights and 14 grueling hours of travel time, we will arrive in Manaus, Brazil. After recovering from jet-lag while still hyped-up on excitement, we will attend and participate in the SUDI 2012 Conference on Sustainability & Disability: Creating Jobs in a Green Economy, on September 3, in which our faculty adviser will lead a presentation and discussion on Global Economics in the Era of Post-Coloniality. After, we will fly to Boa Vista for our tour of the Amazon (hopefully avoiding anacondas and flying cockroaches) where we will learn more about the Amazonian communities and their efforts in ecotourism and sustainability. The conclusion of our trip will take place in the lovely Rio de Janeiro, where we will enjoy Copacabana beach, hike up to the Cristo Redentor (or Christ the Redeemer statue) a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, and enjoy Brazilian life in one the world's most happening cities. Tchau!
